Peer Review for Technology Bio.

The peer review was really effective and useful. I had a chance to review the work for another class-mate. I was able to have a better grasp on the subject of the assignment. My work wasn't reflecting exactly what I was supposed to write. I was mainly writing about the technology in general but not in a narrative style. After the peer review, I was able to go back and change the tone of my work to reflect more interesting yet, more accurate narrative biography about technology in my life. The work I reviewed for the other student was Nice and closer to the subject. I received some pointers and I sure did use them. The peer review gave me a chance to get back on the right track and keep my writing more to the point and closer to the assignment subject.

The assignment itself was interesting since it forced me to think about something I didn't think about before, my first technological experience. I was able to reflect and talk about the history of technology in my life. It is amazing to think how technology have been changing our lives. It is also surprising how we count on technology on many things without even noticing the effects it has on us.

Discourse Community

At first, I thought a discourse community is a group of people that share the same conversation about a topic and we, as writers, target this group in our writing. Even after reading the definition in the book, the meaning was not clear enough. Reading plenty of examples helped me have a better grasp on the meaning and implement it in my writing.
Discourse community is a group of people who use the same language and share the understanding of the special expressions of this language. The fans of a TV show can be an example of a discourse community. This group of fans shares the jokes, expressions, and ideas related to that TV show. Discourse community can be a physical or virtual community, but in order to any new person to join the community, he/she needs to understand and share the language, rules, and ideas of the community to fit.
With the technological advances we are witnessing, discourse community can stretch over the Internet to reach more members. Members of a discourse community can interact through new methods such as text messaging, e-mails, blogging, and conversation forums. Even within these communities, some terms might be interpreted differently depending on the community itself.
